The Blue Pig is the fourth name the public house has held. The first name of the Inn was The Black Lion, copied from the pennant of the Baron de Wolvey. Described as a timbered and thatched hostel with brew house and spacious stabling. Call us on 01455 882827
Around 1480 Warwick the King Maker with Duke Clarence partook of refreshment at this hostel, when their armies were encamped in the village, prior to the capture of Edward IV on Wolvey Heath the next day.
Later The Blue Pig was a main posting house in the stagecoach days, where horses were fed, watered and changed.
Today The Blue Pig has retained its traditional hospitality offering the discerning guest a wide range of ales, largers and food.
Wolvey, judged Warwickshire's Best Village 2011, winner of Gold awards in both the Sustainable Environment and Communication categories 2011, is a vibrant community.
We welcome you to the Blue Pig website. We would like the opportunity to welcome you personally to the Blue Pig which is full of 15th Century character.
We are a husband and wife team (Trina & Brian) who have realised our dream of owning and running a country pub. The pub has a lovely garden for those warm days and two log fires for the chilly nights. Wolvey is a charming village and the people of Wolvey have offered us a very warm welcome. The Blue Pig is a charming pub where we offer fine ale, lager, food, and wine. We prepare the food from our own recipes. So why not come and enjoy the soup, cottage pie, chilli con carne, steak and ale pie or one of our fine curries. The meat has been selected from a local butcher. The wine list is varied and has been selected from a local supplier.
However, a good country pub needs its fine ales and this is no exception. We pride ourselves in keeping quality real ales.
Enjoy your meal in the comfort of our friendly village pub restaurant.Download our current menu
